Applications are now open for the 2024 Verna J. Kirkness Program!
This program offers Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, and Inuit) high school students an opportunity to spend one week conducting research in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. As a Kirkness Scholar, you'll work with university professors and graduate students from partner universities researching a specific topic of interest.
All students are given an opportunity to choose which area of STEM research interests them the most! Expenses are paid by the Verna J. Kirkness Education Foundation, and students will reside on campus at a partnering Canadian university.
Go to vernajkirkness.org for details, and to complete your application. Reach out to your school's Career Coach or Indigenous Education Coach for support in completing your application.
"You are budding Indigenous scientists...probably the most natural scientists in existence."
