This is the image for the news article titled Board Meeting Summary - FebruaryThe High Prairie School Division Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, for their regularly scheduled meeting. With no additions to the agenda, the Board proceeded through the agenda items. 

Indigenous Education Coach Leads Jamie Chalifoux and Keith Laboucan, and Assistant Superintendent Treva Emter gave a presentation on the Indigenous Education Team and its activities over the past year and the plans moving forward.

The Board received a presentation from Acting Director of Transportation Michel Blais on the activities of the department to date and the upcoming events and concerns.

Trustees discussed the funding provided by the Division to school councils for professional development opportunities. Trustees provided local information from the councils in their ward. The information provided varied depending on whether the council was planning to attend the Alberta School Council's Association conference in the spring or bring in-person professional development to their councils.

Superintendent Marran spoke about the next agenda item, adjusting the compensation for school bus drivers for extracurricular activities. This motion was carried by the Board.

Trustees gave approval in full for the Georges P. Vanier School field trip to Quebec.
 
The Board approved the purchase of 2 high jump mats for Roland Michener Secondary School to replace items that were destroyed through vandalism over the summer.

Trustees approved the purchase of a FortiGate Firewall upgrade, as discussed at the January board meeting.

They also approved the sponsorship of the High Prairie Traditional Pow Wow. The Board also approved the sponsorship of the North West Regional Skills Canada Competition.

The Board of Trustees received the Finance Report. They additionally reviewed the School Generated Funds and the 2023-24 performance to budget reports. Both reports are reviewed in closed to adhere to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. They also received the Superintendent's Report.

The last item discussed was the Alberta School Councils' Association (ASCA) Conference and Annual General Meeting. The meeting then adjourned for the day.
