The HPSD Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, for their regularly scheduled meeting. After approval of the consent agenda and additions to the agenda, the meeting proceeded through the remainder of the agenda.

Superintendent Marran updated the Board of Trustees on plans for stakeholder engagement in the current school year, including a review of the current report card format.

Trustees discussed a new administrative procedure regarding certificates of good health, and our administrative procedure was updated to reflect current human resources best practices.

The Board of Trustees discussed the recent announcement of the Government of Alberta to resume engagement on the draft K to 6 social studies curriculum. Trustees noted that the survey is open on the Alberta Education website and will remain open until October 16, 2023.

The Board approved a motion to provide one additional day of busing services to Holy Family Catholic Regional Division.

Trustees approved the motion to purchase the MOTIVE fleet management system. The Board and the Transportation Department reviewed this system to improve efficiencies and safety within the department.

A motion to amend the start time of the October board meeting closed session was approved. The closed portion of the meeting will now start at 10:30 a.m. instead of 1:00 p.m.

The Board received and accepted the Superintendent's Report and the Finance Report and returned to the closed portion of the meeting.
