Students from Kinuso School, Roland Michener Secondary School, and Lakeside Outreach School attended a Forestry Career Day in Slave Lake on Wednesday, March 8.
This event provided an opportunity to learn about the different types of careers in the forestry sector. Booths included electricians, instrumentation technicians, millwrights, welders, foresters, mechanical and power engineers, environmental technicians, production workers, and safety, human resources, and administration professionals.
The job fair also included a post-secondary booth with Northern Lakes College and Portage College representatives. The provincial government had a booth with Alberta wildfire and junior forest ranger staff. Additionally in attendance were organizations that promote careers with students: WorkWild and Careers. The booths were very hands-on, allowing students to ask questions and learn more about future career options.
Thank you to all who helped to make this event such a success!
