Many athletes from the High Prairie School Division represented Alberta North last week at the 2023 Arctic Winter Games in Wood Buffalo. We would like to extend special
congratulations
to the following students for their tremendous achievements:
Alex Dubrule (Georges P. Vanier), and Josh Barore, Grayson Conrad, Damian Hill, and Jonas Lillo (Roland Michener) for winning the silver medal in U15 male ice hockey.
Aidan Hicks and Chase Henley (Georges P. Vanier), and Drayder Pearson (Roland Michener) for placing fourth in U18 male ice hockey.
Kaitlyn Senkoe (Prairie River), and Skylar Hill (Roland Michener) for winning the gold medal in female ice hockey.
Jessica Whalen (E.W. Pratt) for winning gold in the 100m, silver in the 400m, and gold in the relay in the female snowshoe event. Jessica also helped a younger athlete, Elisapee Adams of Nunavik, to finish one of the races, earning her one of two well-earned Fair Play Awards.
Charlotte Adkins (Roland Michener) for winning two silver medals and one bronze, and Hanna Seguin (Roland Michener) for winning four bronze medals and one silver in the female snowshoe event.
Sam Whalen (E.W. Pratt) for winning silver in the 100m, silver in the 400m, and gold in the relay in the male snowshoe event.
Luke Lukan-Kubel (Roland Michener) for helping his team to win a silver medal in the 4x100m male snowshoe relay event.
Brooke Evans (Roland Michener) for winning the gold medal in female wrestling in her weight category.
