High Prairie School Division Appoints Hassan Bouakir as New Principal of E.W. Pratt High School
High Prairie School Division is delighted to announce Hassan Bouakir as the newly appointed principal of E.W. Pratt High School for the 2024-25 school year. Mr. Bouakir brings to the position a distinguished 24-year career in education and leadership, spanning both national and international experiences.
Educated across the globe, Mr. Bouakir's academic credentials are comprehensive and impressive. He is earning his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Western University, Canada, signifying his expertise and dedication to leading educational institutions. His educational acumen is further demonstrated by his Finnish Qualification Equivalency Certificate and a Finnish Pedagogical Team Leadership Certificate from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
In Canada, Mr. Bouakir attained a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Memorial University, where he achieved a notable GPA of 3.66/4.00. He is also a graduate of the University of Alberta, where he completed his Bachelor of Education with Distinction in French-English, showcasing his bilingual proficiency and commitment to inclusive education.
Mr. Bouakir shared his educational philosophy, stating, "As a multilingual Canadian Educator with over 20 years of various national and international experience in education, and having a strong passion for teaching and learning, I believe in the power of quality education, and the critical role that schools play in guiding and developing citizens of character. My experience not only includes teaching, guidance counselling middle and high school students, leadership roles, and international Canadian and Finnish curriculum development, but it does also include providing eLearning and language expertise to the Govt. and the UN. My cultural competence has enabled me to understand, communicate with, and endorse other cultures, which enrich the teaching and learning environment. The joy of teaching and learning is a life-long journey, and I always seek an ongoing and active participation in character development, teaching, learning, and leadership programs. I always have the best interest of students in mind, and I possess a vision of students as active participants in their own learning, their community, and as active global citizens. As the new Principal at EW Pratt High School, I am looking forward to embracing the mission and vision of the school, joining, and leading a team of professionals to provide quality education, a healthy school culture, and working together for the well-being and success of students".
