The Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, for their regularly scheduled board meeting. The Board accepted the agenda with additions and then proceeded with the rest of the agenda items.

Supervisor of Curriculum Julia Drefs and Early Learning Coordinator Corinna Horsman provided an update on the new curriculum roll-out and student assessment in the Division.

The next item discussed was the 2023-24 school year calendar. The Board approved the calendar as presented. The calendar was created by the calendar committee, comprised of school administrators and facilitated by the Superintendent and Director of Communications. The committee surveyed students, parents, staff, and community members on the calendar. They further requested additional feedback from local school authorities and also from school staff to develop the draft calendar. The Board of Trustees approved a request for a lease from the Smoky River Childcare Society for their Busy Bee Daycare. The location of the lease is in the ECS building at École Routhier School.

Trustees gave approval in full for a national field trip to BC for Roland Michener Secondary School, Georges P. Vanier School, Prairie River Junior High School, and E.W. Pratt High School band students.

Trustee Shelp provided an update from the employee Recognition Committee regarding the 2023 employee awards banquet.

The Board received and accepted the Finance Report and then adjourned the meeting for the day.
