The High Prairie School Division Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, March 21, for their regularly scheduled meeting.

After approving the agenda with additions, the meeting proceeded into the remainder of the agenda items.

The Board of Trustees requested that the HPSD Indigenous Education Team be nominated for the Public School Boards' Association award, Promoting and Advancing One or More of the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada in Relation to Education within Alberta.

Trustees sought clarity on the HPSD bus status website and notifications. The Board brought forward questions from parents regarding when the bus status is updated, how the temperature thresholds are determined on a day-to-day basis, and the process by which that information is disseminated to stakeholders.

The Board received an update on the Rural Caucus of Alberta School Board website. Trustee Henkel prepared an outline of the website, which was presented to the Board with an overview of the website and the functions available.

The Board received and approved the Finance Report.

The Board also approved the 2023-24 operational calendar.

Trustees approved a request for a contribution to the High Prairie Traditional Pow Wow. High Prairie School Division students participate, and those graduating are acknowledged at the annual event. 

The Board approved a motion to move the June Organizational Meeting to August. The incoming Superintendent, Murray Marran, will be in attendance at the August board meeting, which was scheduled for August 22, 2023. June will continue to have a regularly scheduled board meeting.

Trustees approved the Joint use and planning agreements (JUPA) between High Prairie School Division and Big Lakes County. 

The Board gave approval in principle for the Kinuso School international field trip to Europe in the Spring of 2024.
