Regular Board Meeting Summary - October 2022The High Prairie School Division Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, for their regularly scheduled meeting. Trustees approved the agenda with additions and continued with the rest of the agenda items.

Trustees discussed the upcoming proposed advocacy resolutions from the Alberta School Councils' Association (ASCA). Trustees will be working with school councils to discuss how to submit resolutions, with the deadline for submissions being January 15. Additionally, Trustees discussed the financial options for school councils to spend funds provided by the Government to support professional development, increase parental involvement, and other applicable expenses.

The Board approved in principle the order of up to four school buses. Due to increased demands and supply chain constraints, school buses need to be ordered in advance to arrive for the following school year.

Trustees approved a motion to budget $50,000 for the recruitment of a new superintendent for the High Prairie School Division as Superintendent Laura Poloz is retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

The Board received and approved the Finance Report. Trustee Scholl asked administration for clarification on School Generated Funds (SGF) and how they are accessed and reconciled.

Trustees then discussed standing committee reports and trustee reports and how they represent the work they have done when they attend events, meetings, professional development, etc. and how these support student growth and overall improvement of the education system.

The meeting was then adjourned for the day.
