Vanier School competed in the Regional Skills Competition at Northwestern Polytechnic in Fairview in the Robotics category. This year, the teams had to code robots to play hockey and score goals on the other team.

Raechel Regular and Christian Mencke played some good hockey. Their robot, named Conor McDavid, won one game in a shootout after a tiebreaker. They lost in the bronze medal game by one point.

CJ Mencke and his partner went undefeated and took home the gold medal for Robotics at the competition. Their robots were coded to move both forward and sideways, giving them huge mobility on the court and the ability to shoot any ball that entered their side.

Both teams will compete at the Provincial Skills Competition in Edmonton next week. We wish them the best of luck!
