Several classes from C.J. Schurter School visited Slave Lake's Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (BCBC) last week to learn about hot and cold temperatures and how animals and birds survive in northern climates.
Students performed an experiment illustrating how birds could regulate their body temperatures to survive cold temperatures.
They also went on a nature walk through the boreal forest to look for animal signs and observed some animal furs and moose antlers!
The BCBC is the only educational and research facility in the world strategically located to study boreal birds on their breeding grounds.
Thank you to all who facilitated this excellent learning event!
